Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off today (6/5), and Cupertino is expected to announce some big things. We'll almost certainly get a look at their new operating systems, a 15-inch MacBook Air and a brand new mixed reality headset.
While this event has been exceptionally leaky from the likes of Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, it's usually safe to assume that Tim Cook has some surprises up his sleeve, so stick around to find out what's new in the world of Apple. We'll be updating here when the festivities begin.
3:04 PM That's a wrap, folks. Thanks for following along.
1:00 PM Here we go!

Vision Pro video
Price and ship date
$3,499 is EVEN WORSE than folks were thinking. That's a massive chunk of change.
Ships next year.
Optic ID
Not only does it scan your eye to keep others from accessing your stuff, it's also designed to prevent apps from seeing your surroundings or tracking where you look.
Vision Pro specs
23 millions pixels across two panels — over 4K per eye. 64 pixels in the space of one iPhone pixel.
Uses "audio ray tracing" to track what your environment is like to provide dynamic surround audio with the goal to sound like sounds are from the environment.
The new R1 chip is dedicated to processing the massive amount of input without lag. Latency in a VR experience is a nightmare, so it makes sense.
So instead of showing you on FaceTime, you scan your face and have a weird digital puppet. Absurd.
Here's the weird battery pack that you need.
VisionOS is yet another operating system for Apple to maintain. So dang many!
Vision Pro mixed reality headset
The new Vision Pro headset is controlled with your eyes, voice and hands. It's not using controllers like most existing VR experience.
Focusing more on the augmented reality aspect than the virtual reality aspect, at least at first. But make no mistake, it does both.
Here's the meditation app we heard about. We're ready to chillax like Apple wants.
Interestingly, the headset actually shows your eyes to others when it detects someone in the room. They call it "EyeSight."
Here's what it looks like to browse around to do work in your headset.
Stream your Mac to your Vision Pro just by looking at it, and it's like you have a massive 4K display.
FaceTime support too, but we hate to think about what they'll see from people wearing the headset.
Spatial photos and videos allow you to capture and play back 3D images.
3D movies are back. James Cameron is the only one who cares. However, make a 100-foot virtual screen makes theaters obsolete.
Bob Iger from Disney come out to offer full-on support for the Vision Pro.
They've already hit Star Wars, Marvel and the cartoon classics. Pulling on people's heart strings hard. Better open that wallet.
Okay, so all that fuss was just over Disney+ availability at launch. Jeeeeeez.
Now we're doing hardware deep-dives to show how fancy the knobs and buttons are. Custom inserts for those with glasses.
Health tools

AppleTV
Not only is Apple making their audio device management better on their TV box, but they're adding FaceTime support as well — paired with your other Apple device. Heck, you can even Zoom. Weird, right?
AirPlay
AirPlay hotels is a new feature that allows you to more easily play music on unfamiliar hardware when you're traveling.
AirPods
AirPods Pro are getting better with a new adaptive audio mode. It'll reduce background noise, but allow you to still operate in the world without takin' 'em out.
Also benefits from automatic noise reduction on calls.
Safari
Enjoy enhanced privacy with locked private browsing and better blocking for trackers.
Passkey support for Safari.
You can now separate work and home browsing with profiles.
Video effects
Celebrate with video effects while video chatting.
Mac gaming
Game mode lets you get more out of your Mac when you're playing.
More games are coming to Mac — including "Death Stranding." Thanks for showing up, Kojima!
Widgets
Those widget improvements from the iPad are here too. Better functionality, and you can even shove 'em onto the desktop now.
macOS Sonoma
The next OS is all about that wineeeeeee.
iPadOS 17 is packed with features
Better Notes app
Keep everything clear and simple, and work with PDFs a lot better on the iPad.
Heath app
Not just for iPhone anymore, the Health app is for iPad too.
More than one timer at a time
It took long enough, but at least Craig has a sense of humor.
iPadOS 17's lock screen is mode dynamic now
Keep it custom with better widgets, more photos and useful info.
iPadOS 17 is getting better widgets
Expect a lot more interactivity with the widgets themselves without having to go into the apps.
iOS 17 has so many new features
iOS standby mode
Standby mode allows you to keep your phone display on, cycling through photos or just keeping a clock going.
iOS journaling app
Apple is getting into the journaling game — just like the rumors said. RIP third parties.
iOS auto correct improvement
Tired of auto correct sucking? Apple is too. It's getting a big overhaul.
It's a lot smarter.
