Book a Snorkeling Trip or 3-Tank Dive of the Blue Hole

Full-Day Boat Trip

This full-day dive trip to Lighthouse Reef Atoll and the Great Blue Hole is truly an iconic Belize experience. This natural marine sinkhole was made famous by Jacques Cousteau, when in 1971 after his Blue Hole exploration, he named it one of the top 10 scuba diving sites in the world. In 2012, the Discovery Channel ranked the Great Blue Hole number one on its list of “The 10 Most Amazing Places on Earth.” Originally, the Blue Hole was a cave whose roof fell in some 10,000 years ago as the land receded into rising seas.

This dive will bring you to a maximum of 130 feet into the sinkhole surrounded by stalactites and stalagmites. Observe graceful bull and reef sharks gliding through the deep blue water. Afterward, you’ll continue on to Half Moon Caye, UNESCO World Heritage Site. There you’ll take a stroll to the red-footed booby bird sanctuary where you can marvel at these peculiar creatures and the picturesque surroundings from a treetop observation tower. Next, a succulent picnic lunch will be served on the beach. The next two dives — Half Moon Wall and “the Aquarium” — are nothing short of spectacular and unique in themselves. Although it’s geared toward divers, this trip is open to snorkelers, too. The boat ride itself is half of the fun, as you’ll get to see all of Belize’s shades of blue and dozens of tiny postcard-perfect islands along the way.
